Housing People
The Homeless

Providing temporary accommodation or a permanent home.

At HHUK, we reject the stigma that is often attached to homeless people. While some in this category may have particular associated problems that have contributed to their homelessness, many of these difficulties can be overcome with the right level of support. The main cause of homelessness remains family breakdown often caused by no fault of the person who has become homeless as a result.

Other reasons include repossession of homes by banks and building societies, sale of homes by landlords, people leaving care, overcrowding, unsanitary or poor conditions or people being victims of harassment, threat of violence or an emergency such as a fire or a flood. There should be no stigma towards, or discrimination against, those who find themselves homeless.
